Who Is More Jealous, Man Or Woman?

Ayoola Lawal To be jealous, says the Oxford Advanced Learner’s Dictionary, is to be “feeling angry or unhappy because somebody you like or love is showing interest in somebody else.”
Both men and women are liable to be jealous. However, the issue of who is more jealous could be termed controversial in our contemporary society. In this, the Saturday Tribune crew of Labake Adekunle, Kayode Akinjare, Ganiyat Oyetoro and Vivian Umeh, went out to sample public opinion on which of the two sexes is more subject to jealousy.
Mr. Dare Aremu: Of course,
men are more jealous.
They love playing on their spouses’ intelligence. If a man is involved in a sex scandal, he easily covers himself up. If it were to be the woman, that marks the end of the relationship. It is also difficult for many men to cope with spouses that are richer than they are due to jealousy.
Mr. Ayoola Lawal: Men are 60 per cent jealous while women are 40 per cent. But men can always hide their jealousy because of nature, but it is crystal clear that men are more jealous.
Mr. Tunde Olufade: Men are more jealous than women, the reason being that if a man sees his wife with another man, his nerves will easily become fray without having found out the fact; maybe the woman is not having an extra-marital affair with the man he catches her with, he doesn’t know, but women would always keep their cool and ask questions.
Mr. Okubanjo: Women are more jealous because if a woman sees her husband with another woman, all hell would let loose.
Abimbola Adisa: A man is more jealous, it is natural. A Yoruba proverb says, “If a woman is jealous, don’t reprimand her because she is only taking after her father.” A man’s jealousy is more violent than that of a woman. A man can have up to four women in his house, a woman can’t do that.
Adegbesan Oluwafemi: It is generally believed that people think it is women that are more jealous, but it is men. Women don’t have the spirit to overlook things, they can’t keep things within themselves. But men can do that for the sake of peace. It is not boldly inscribed on their faces that they are jealous, but deep down, they can be seriously affected.
Adesegun Otitoloju: We are all human beings and everybody is liable to be jealous. Women are more jealous. If a man wants to marry more wives, his wife would always oppose it.
Grace Ofukoya: If a lady goes to her fiance’s house and meets another woman, she would be angry but if the man begs her, she would always forgive him. If it is the other way round, the man will stick to his gun by not forgiving his spouse.
Bayo Okedeji: Women, owing to their hot temper, if they see their husbands with other women they would always go mad.
Ajayi-Obe Wale: In most cases, it is women that display jealousy by monitoring their husbands all about, but men do not have the time to police their wives up and down. There is this belief, according to statistics, that women outnumber men, hence, if a lady is already having a guy to herself, she would go to the extreme in keeping the man. This rings out the jealousy in her.
Abbey Akala: It is the men. If a woman sees her husband with another lady, she will still consider her as being a friend or a contemporary at work, but if it were to be a man, he will never listen to any plea or excuse, he will conclude that his wife is an infidel.
Benson Eze: Women are more jealous; men don’t have the time, since women are many. Women are jealous even of one another.
