AS early as 7:30 a.m on Thursday, July 3, 2008, three cars rammed into one another at the Olopometa area of Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, leaving one of the drivers of the vehicles sustaining injury in his left leg.
Investigating the cause of the accident, an eye witness account stated that a car (Honda) with registration number BQ 910 KSF (Lagos) broke down on the road occupying a large portion of the road since the previous night, a jeep with plate number AH 481 YNF (Oyo) speeding off suddenly saw the broken down car and rammed into it, two other cars coming behind successively rammed into the jeep, thereby causing a light hold up in the area.
Visiting the site of the accident, apart from the cause attributed to the broken down car, long trucks (trailers) carrying petroleum products parked along the road could be another possible cause.
