NAF FC loses Team Manager

The promotion bid of NAF FC of Abuja in the forthcoming season may be in jeopardy following the demise of the club's team manager, Warrant Officer Ashiru Anja Usman last Friday.

The team manager who had accompanied the team to a friendly match with Premier league clubside, JUTH FC on Thursday was said to have slumped and died in his home in Abuja.

Confirming this to Tribunesports, Chairman of club, Group Captain Patrick Akosubo said the death of the Team Manager was a big blow to the promotion quest of the club.

"It is very sad that we have to lose this humble officer at this time. He has been the Team Manager of the Club for four seasons now. He took the club from the amateur to the professional cadre. Two seasons ago, we missed promotion by whiskers. He and the coaches have been very busy with the screening of players for the new season.

"He arranged the friendly match we played in Keffi a day before his death. He did not show any sign of illness at all. It was shocking to hear that he slumped and died the next morning. His death will create a big vacuum in the team."

Akosubo however, stated that the only way the club can immortalize the late Air Force officer was to win the promotion ticket at the end of the season.

Warrant Officer Ashiru Usman was aged 46 years and survived by a wife and four children.
